The shine of the plating actually makes the drivers appear to be see-through when the loco is running! The whistle is an actual recording of a C&O steam locomotive. The wire connection from the tender, while not required, was added to provide pick-up and prevent possible stalls. Unlike similar engines, the sound comes from the locomotive as opposed to the tender, and the die-cast trailing truck has side frame detail.
