Lights, Camera, Atlas O!

A two-part video featuring Atlas O, LLC Vice-President Jim Weaver was posted on Classic Toy Trains online magazine on April 17, 2009, in the feature section, “Bob’s Toy Box” on the home page. During a total of eight information-packed minutes, Jim discusses the current state of model railroading, what makes Atlas O products unique, his current favorite Trainman® and Industrial Rail™ items, and more. At the end of Part II, Jim unveils a surprise treasure from the Atlas O archives to share with viewers.

Bob Keller, associate editor at Classic Toy Trains (CTT) approached Atlas O in March about producing a video. Working with Atlas, the segment was created and posted prior to the April Train Collectors of America (TCA) Meet in York, PA, providing a preview of new products Atlas O will be showing.

“We were very pleased with the overall quality and tone of the video and thank everyone at Classic Toy Trains and Kalmbach Publishing for providing this beneficial opportunity to interact with O scale modelers,” said Tom Haedrich, CEO. “Jim’s wealth of knowledge, combined with the filmmaking skills of our Marketing Coordinator, known on YouTube as ‘AtlasEric’, made for a product we can all be proud of, and viewers can enjoy.” AtlasEric has produced and posted numerous informational and instructional films about Atlas products, which can be viewed here here.

Long-time O scale model railroaders will enjoy the special surprise Jim delivers at the end of Part II – one of the original set of four sheet metal structures Atlas manufactured to complement Lionel Trains in 1949, the Passenger Station. The entire set, including three cottages and the station, will be featured in an upcoming installment of CTT’s newest online feature, “Collectible Classics.”

According to Bob Keller, Jim’s interview, a “Special Edition” of his Toy Box feature, will remain on the magazine’s home page throughout the duration of the current issue, and will then be archived so it will always be available for all readers. You can view both parts, as well as the entire CTT online magazine, here: www.classictoytrains.com.
