Have you heard the latest news? The sign-up deadline to become a Charter Member of the new Atlas O Golden Spike Club™ has been extended until midnight, Monday, April 30, 2007. Following the recent exciting revelations about the clubs’ first sign-up gift and exclusive product offering, the growing buzz has swelled membership ranks. This deadline extension will allow even more O modelers to get in on the ground floor and enjoy all the perks of membership.

“We are extending the Charter Membership sign-up deadline to coincide with the April 18 – 21 TCA Meet in York, PA,” said Thomas W. Haedrich, CEO. (The club was announced at the October 2006York show.) Visitors to the Atlas booth will be able to see the actual, 40’ Wood Reefer, meticulously decorated for Clicquot Club Ginger Ale, which Charter Members will receive as their sign-up gift, as well as the club’s first offer – an Atlas Trainman® RSD 7/15 Demonstrator locomotive, available to club members at special prices.

“By mid-March, close to 1,000 O modelers had signed up to become Charter Members; a phenomenal response,” Tom continued. “We’re finalizing what we believe will be an exciting enhancement to our most loyal customers’ appreciation and enjoyment of Atlas’ high quality, top performance O products. As members of the club, they will be acquiring unique, limited offerings not available to the general model railroading public, along with inside information, pre-announcements and coming surprises. The special Charter Membership card will forever designate the bearer as a Charter Member. ”

In announcing the inaugural club car, Atlas O Vice President Jim Weaver stated, “We selected a 40' reefer as the sign-up gift to our charter members due to the stunning success of this line of cars, for this specific car’s colorful details, and the fact that it is a perfect accompaniment to Atlas O’s previously released, highly-collectible 36' Clicquot cars. Its unique and colorful paint scheme will appeal to many operators and collectors. The Atlas O 40’ Wood Reefer is a fitting introduction to this latest offering of O scale fun from Atlas. Exquisite decoration is a hallmark of all Atlas products. All Atlas O Golden Spike membership cars will feature prototypically correct decoration on appropriate models.”

A new “member’s only” car will be produced annually for those who renew their membership. Special Charter membership cards bearing the Golden Spike Club logo and each member’s name will be part of the first club mailing, commencing as this story goes to press. The mailing will include the club’s inaugural newsletter, the membership card and an order form for the RSD 7/15 Demonstrator locomotive. Charter Members will also be receiving a distinctive club pin, free First Class mailing on new Atlas O catalogs, and more.

The name for the club was inspired by the history-making event of the ‘golden spike’ being driven into the ground, joining together the East and West into the country’s first Transcontinental Railroad, an iconic American scene has been recreated in movies, television, art and history books.
