Atlas in the News

Between attending train shows, visiting distributors nationwide and traveling anywhere avid model railroaders can be found, Atlas’ staff can pop up just about anyplace! That was the case last August, when our own Marketing Coordinator Jarrett Haedrich was asked to trek to nearby Bridgewater, New Jersey to be a Special Projects judge at the Somerset County Annual 4-H Fair. It was the third time Jarrett was invited to participate in the fair’s large model railroading event. This time, he was charged with scoring the efforts of members of the 4-H Trainmasters, ages 7-15, in everything from model construction to train operation.

“We often talk about the importance of bringing new, young enthusiasts to the traditional hobby of model railroading,” said Jarrett afterward. “The youngsters participating in this event were extremely talented and accomplished. It was gratifying to be asked to judge, and to witness that the future of model railroading is alive and well in this exceptional group of young modelers. It was a day I will long remember.” Jarrett, who has donated an Atlas product to each 4-H Fair he’s attended, brought along a 40’ reefer to donate in 2005.

In 2004, Jarrett brought his English Bulldog, Rupert, the model for our Traindog character, which can be seen on our Trainman™ website, in two online animations, at www.atlastrainman.com. As you might imagine, Rupert was a big hit!
