Seasonal Train Shows = Economical Fun for All!
Get in the holiday spirit. Stroll the aisles. Get educated.
View what’s new. Ignite your imagination. Enjoy a memorable
day with your family and friends that’s easy on the
pocketbook. All that and more is what’s in store if
you plan a fun, affordable day at one of the numerous model
railroad events taking place throughout the country this time
of year.
Those seeking economical day or weekend trips close to home
with something for everyone will find train shows a perfect
seasonal pastime. Admissions are reasonable. In many cases,
children are admitted at a reduced fee, or completely free
of charge. From firehouse halls, to museums, to fairgrounds,
to huge, modern convention centers, there is a model train-related
event that’s just the ticket to transcend the restrictions
tight budgets are placing on entertainment options this year.
Most shows offer special programs and activities for the
young, and young at heart. Craft projects, how-to sessions,
seminars, entertainment and demonstrations provide awe-inspiring
experiences you’ll relive again and again. Since many
shows feature multiple aisles of fun, you can consider it
exercise - a chance to do something active out of the house!
You may even start a young person on the life-enhancing, enduring,
traditional and always exciting hobby of model railroading!
Myriad layouts large and small will delight everyone and
give you something to strive for! Its fun to see what expert
modelers create when they bring their “A game”
to a show. From authentic recreations of actual locales, to
whimsical renditions like circus layouts, 1950s “American
Graffiti”-style downtowns and always breath-taking holiday
layouts, you’ll need a camera to capture it all! Companies
of all sizes display their latest wares. Their representatives
will gladly chat with you face-to-face.
Finding an affordable show near you is easy! In addition
to your local newspaper, many model railroad magazines, available
at bookstores and in hobby shops, provide listings. Your local
hobby shop or model railroad club/historical society can point
you in the right direction, or try searching train shows in
your state online! To see where Atlas will be setting up its
booths between now and March 2009, click

To borrow a phrase from Emerson, Lake and Palmer –
“Come and see the show – it’s a dynamo!”

Atlas'
Jerry Kimble - Part 1
There’s something in the fascinating story of Jerry
Kimble, newest member of the Atlas Sales Department, that’s
reminiscent of the character Zelig in the famous Woody Allen film.
Timing, Fate and experience have repeatedly influenced Jerry’s
life and career as well, steering him to Atlas at this moment in time;
which is indeed fortunate for us and model railroaders everywhere.

Price, Unique Road Names Highlight HO Release
“How are Atlas models and road names selected?”
is indeed an FAQ for us. While a variety of factors and input are
involved, the renowned Atlas Research and Development team always
seek the unique. Locomotives with interesting back stories are especially
preferred by our experts, who spend countless hours in the Atlas library,
online and in the field researching minute details both physical and
historical.
