Make your Track Shine in ’09!

Spring Cleaning is a snap with Atlas – track cleaning, that is! You’ve heard the buzz, now vanish the fuzz with the new Atlas HO Master™ Track Cleaning Car. Available in four different paint schemes—Maintenance of Way, (MOW), grey, MOW yellow, MOW orange and yellow with an Atlas logo, this new model, licensed from Dapol, United Kingdom, is a great boon to any modeler who needs a simple, reliable way to keep model railroad track in tip-top shape.

#20 000 375 Maintenance of Way (MOW) Orange Atlas HO Master™ Track Cleaning Car

Continuous train operation leaves residue on your layout, reducing the conductivity and appearance of your rails. Running your trains on rails that are grimy with dust, dirt and grit impedes performance and can harm equipment. Even lack of use can create problems from dusty tracks. A messy and time-consuming process when done by hands that can knock delicate parts of a layout out of position, track cleaning now has a speedy and efficient solution with this new car from Atlas, in hobby shops now!

Each model includes a track cleaning car, abrasive heads, polishing heads, vacuum fan, foam pads for liquid cleaning and track brushes. Most of these heads can be removed by hand and are operated by the on board motor. The vacuum head requires usage of the included tool to remove. The track brushes are attached by a screw on a visible mount. Cleaning fluid can be added by removing the black tank cover on the top of the car and inserting a small amount.

Operation is simple!

The Atlas HO Master™ Track Cleaning Car has wet or dry capabilities as well as a vacuum function. It can clean in inaccessible, hard to reach places, automatically, saving you time and elbow grease!

#20 000 376 Maintenance of Way (MOW) Yellow Atlas HO Master™ Track Cleaning Car

To use any of the functions, simply attach the head or fan you wish to operate, make sure that the switch is in the ‘OFF’ position before placing on your layout and then couple it to the locomotive of your choice to move the car around the track. (The motor doesn’t allow for movement power.) Turn the switch to the ‘ON’ position and slowly turn up the power to the rails via your transformer. As power is supplied to the car and locomotive, the fan/head will start to spin and the locomotive will pull it around the track. To empty any dust from vacuuming, simply remove the top cover and turn the entire car upside-down.

There is a third setting on the track cleaning car, noted as ‘CL-POWER’, which will distribute extra power to the cleaning heads to help remove any extremely dirty areas that normal cleaning won’t remove entirely. This setting should only be used briefly to prevent excessive wear to the motor (and your track if the abrasive head is applied).

The Atlas HO Track Cleaning Car is fitted with an onboard 8-pin PCB, so you can run the model on a DCC layout after fitting in your decoder of choice. However, the car should NOT be run on a DCC wired layout before installing a proper decoder as the unit may be damaged, voiding your warranty.

This insanely useful model is now available from Atlas Dealers everywhere and retails for $109.95. Pick up yours today and eliminate the perils of dirty track from your layout.
